Ugandans are urged to join in the cause to fight stigma and give hope to young people living with the HIV. Speaking at Uganda’s second beauty pageant to fight stigmatization of people living with HIV Dr. Frank Mugisha SMUG Executive Director said all views that embrace diversity would help in fight against stigma.
He added that the pageant in his perspective celebrates every person who has been able to stand up and fight against stigma.
Dr. Frank Mugisha made a promise on behalf of SMUG that after consultations with the organization we would make a pledge to help in the fight against stigma. He personally committed 1.5 million shillings towards the Mr. and Miss Y+ fund that will create more sensitization and the fight against stigmatization of youth living with HIV.SMUG staff also attended the pageant.
Uganda Network of Young People Living with HIV&AIDS (UNYPA) started in 2003 to provide leadership and coordinate the greater and meaningful involvement of YPLHIV in Uganda.
With over 50,000 (Fifty thousand) members living with HIV, UNYPA consists of a dedicated team of individuals helping young HIV/AIDS positive people live positively.
